Become a Digital Citizen Ambassador –
Safe, Savvy, and Social
Digital Citizen Ambassador Training (DCAT): A Media Literacy Project
The Project helps young Armenian youth aged 16-30 develop a deeper understanding of how to use technology in an empathetic, socially responsible, and positive fashion.
This Project aims to reduce the impact of disinformation campaigns on Armenian society and increase public confidence in identifying valid information, equipping people to make educated, rational decisions that strengthen public trust in media institutions and uphold democratic processes.
The phases of the Project:
1. Train the Trainers
Through a series of virtual training using American Councils’ misinformation and fact-checking curriculum, each cohort of Digital Citizen Ambassadors (DCAs) learns the foundations of media literacy and digital citizenship and best practices for online etiquette.
2. Curriculum Development by Armenian Digital Citizen Ambassadors
Each cohort of DCAs meets in-person to script, film, and edit videos about media literacy in Armenian for use in a publicly available online course while meeting with content experts to discuss marketing and outreach for follow-on engagements. After DCAs have finalized the videos, they update the online school at Teachable, combining filmed lectures with interactive quizzes and discussions.
3. Peer-to-Peer Learning: Digital Citizen Ambassadors deliver online/hybrid training to regional Armenian youth to become media literate and Digital Citizen that is Safe, Savvy, and Social
After creating the localized course, the DCAs engage secondary schools, community centers, and educational partners across Armenia to recruit youth participants and deliver online and offline training based on the developed curriculum.
The curriculum is designed around Mike Ribble’s S3 Framework, which focuses on the themes of:
