USG ALUMNI SMALL GRANTS SECOND ROUND IS NOW OPEN!

American Councils Armenia cooperates with the U.S. Embassy in Armenia to implement the 2024 Alumni Grants Program. The Program provides funding of up to $5,000 for individual alumni and up to $20,000 for institutions (non-profit organizations) of alumni to implement innovative, small-scale alumni projects that address various themes and foster greater contacts between alumni of various U.S. government programs, strengthen local communities and foster positive relationships between the United States and the Republic of Armenia.

The funding opportunity is open to all USG-funded and/or USG-sponsored exchange programs, as well as Armenian-registered NGOs (non-profit, non-governmental organizations), that have alumni members in high ranking positions (President, Founder/Co-Founder, Project Manager, etc.)

  • The 2025 Alumni Grants Program, a collaboration between American Councils Armenia and the U.S. Embassy, is now accepting proposals. This initiative offers funding ranging from $5,000 (individual) to $20,000 (institutional) to alumni to implement innovative, small-scale alumni projects that address various themes, foster greater connections among alumni of U.S. government programs, strengthen local communities, and promote positive relationships between the United States and the Republic of Armenia.

    • Empowering Youth Civic Engagement and Upholding Democratic Values

    • Improving Media Literacy

    • Promoting Entrepreneurial Thinking Among Youth

    • Fostering Inclusion of Marginalized and Vulnerable Communities, Including Displaced Persons

    • Applicants must be citizens of Armenia residing in the Republic of Armenia.

    • Applicants must be alumni of the U.S. government or U.S. Embassy education/exchange programs.

    • Projects must align with the program goals.

    • An online application and all supporting materials must be submitted.

  • The deadline for submitting applications is February 9, 2025, at 23:59 PM Armenian Time.

    Applicants will be notified about their status approximately at the end of March or the beginning of April.

  • USG Alumni Small Grants 2024 - First Round Overview

    The first round of the USG Alumni Small Grants was launched on May 10, 2024, inviting alumni to submit project proposals under the following themes:

    • Supporting Democratic Values and Civic Engagement

    • Advancing Gender Equity

    • Improving Media Literacy

    • Promoting Entrepreneurship

    • Inclusion of Displaced Persons

    • Peace Building and Conflict Resolution

    The application deadline was June 15, 2024.

    The USG Alumni Armenia Team organized a Grant Info Session and a series of online and offline grant writing training to support alumni in the application process.

    During the Grant Info Session, more than 30 alumni were guided through the application process and guidelines by the USG Alumni Engagement Coordinator and members of the Grants Committee.

    Following this, the team hosted a Grant Writing Training session, where field experts provided detailed insights on critical topics, including:

    • Project Narrative

    • Budgeting

    • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Frameworks

    The training was offered in both in-person and online formats. The in-person session was held on June 4, 2024, followed by an online session on June 12, 2024. In total, over 40 alumni participated in the training.

    By the application deadline, more than 20 alumni submitted proposals for the USG Alumni Small Grants 2024 First Round. After a thorough evaluation by the committee, three award winners were selected.
