U.S. Embassy Launches New Partnership with American Councils to Strengthen U.S. Exchange Alumni Network in Armenia
YEREVAN – April 11, 2024 – The U.S. Embassy in Yerevan has launched a new two-year partnership with the American Councils to foster collaboration and professional development for the network of U.S. Government (USG) exchange program alumni in Armenia.
The alumni engagement program will reinforce the connections and contributions of U.S. exchange alumni in Armenia. This multifaceted initiative will include annual networking and professional development conferences, including the first three-day alumni conference entitled “U.S. Exchange Alumni Uniting for Progress in Armenia” to be held May 24-26, 2024; alumni award ceremonies recognizing excellence, and a soon-to-launch alumni small grants program to support civic engagement and empower alumni to support Armenia’s democratic development.
“This alumni outreach program will nurture a dynamic alumni community, support Armenia's growth, and reinforce the enduring ties between Armenia and the United States created during U.S. exchange programs,” said Jen McAndrew, U.S. Embassy Yerevan Public Affairs Officer.
Over 5,000 Armenians have benefited from U.S.-sponsored educational and cultural exchange programs. Spanning over 30 initiatives, these programs host a diverse array of participants, from high school students in the FLEX program to parliamentarians in Open World, showcasing the depth and breadth of U.S.-Armenia people-to-people ties.
